An exciting opportunity to work on a collaborative project exploring regionally coordinated strategies to prevent the dissemination of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through the Victorian healthcare system. This project will link Victorian patient admission datasets with existing and prospectively collected genomic microbiologic data through applying network analysis and modelling methods to characterise and simulate intra- and inter-hospital ‘patient movement networks’. As part of the research team you will help to describe the role of shared patient populations as ‘bridges’ between hospitals via which AMR can spread and explore how a detailed understanding of these referral networks can translate to effective and efficient policy decisions.
